Today is the first day since beginning my vacation that I've had both
the time and capability to access my blogger account. I wanted to give you a quick update to let you know that my husband and I were not one of the many people injured in the Reno Air Race tragedy last Friday. Although the plane crashed right in front of our reserved seats, we were safely in our camper at the time of the mishap - God was truly protecting us on Friday.
Unfortunately, two of my father-in-law's good friends and neighbors passed away in
this accident, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are others of you
reading this blog that are affected by this terrible event.
My thoughts
and prayers go out to all of the families and friends who lost loved
ones this past weekend.

ReplyDeleteI've just recently found your blog and I'm enthralled and inspired! I have been in love with sewing since earlier childhood. My granny was a loving, nurturing christian woman and I spent many hours with her before reaching the age to start school. She had a “new fangled” sewing maching, but she would use her treddle sewing machine often. Thinking about it now I believe she would use Ol Bessie when I was with her just so I could “pump the peddle” for her. I would sit under the machine and pump away...watching with amusement at the belt spin the wheel around and around. My love affair with sewing and sewing machines was born. When I got old enough she taught me how to sew on that machine.
My mother kept granny's treddle machine up until 6 or 7 years ago when she moved to Alabama. The machine was in great condition but the cabinet definitely showed signs of age and lots of love. I did not have the room to take her...I cried. My mother made sure she gave it to someone that would show her the love and respect she deserved. I do not know the year of the machine but I have seen many similar to it.
I have a friend that has one from the late 1800's (her grandmother's machine) and it is in much need of restoration (she actually has two). She is wanting to give it away to someone that will show it love and since finding your blog I am inspired to give it a try!
So glad you are safe. I have been wondering. I even mentioned it to my DH. Sorry about your inlaws friends. Such a tragedy.
